I am a self-taught artist from Maryland with a background in tissue paper paintings. In 2008, with the environment in mind, I changed my materials to recycled tissue paper and began experimenting with plastic bags. The bags come in so many pretty colors, they are so toxic to the universe and their practical use keeps them from our landfill and our waters. With my cut bits of plastic bags or torn bits of colored tissue paper, brushed on to a canvas with glue and water, my images become displays of characters, scenes, thoughts, and emotions. In my art world, the choice really is "paper or plastic". I also like to use oil pastels with recycled canvas and frames. I enjoy participating in local and state shows with a mindful purpose to participate more in the art world as an eco-artist.

NIGHT IN THE WOODS
THE WHISPERS IN THE NIGHT
THE SOUND OF THE WIND
TOUCHES MY HEART
AND MY SOUL FROM WITHIN
THE PEACEFUL QUIET
AS THE WORLD FALLS ASLEEP
AND THE DARK OF THE NIGHT
IN THE WOODS- HIDDEN DEEP
COMES THE RUSTLE OF THE LEAVES
AS NATURE STIRS ABOUT
FINDING HIDDEN PLACES
AMONG THE TREES - NO DOUBT
THE TREES HEAR THE WHISPERS
OF ALL LIVING THINGS
AS THEY TOWER THEIR PROTECTION
AND TO THEIR STRENGTH, WE CLING
A NIGHT IN THE WOODS
AWAKENS MANY SENSES
WE KNOW WE'RE ALIVE
AS OUR FEARFUL BODY TENSES
WE LIVE OUT LOUD
AS THE NIGHT BEGINS TO BREAK
WE WILL FIND OUR WAY
TO THE LIFE THAT WE MAKE
